Joanne commenced teaching in 1994 with her first placement at Newman SHS in the Pilbara and has since taught in London and at Rossmoyne SHS before returning to her old high school, Lynwood SHS. At Lynwood SHS Joanne undertook a range of roles leading major school improvement initiatives which had significant impact in improving student achievement.
Joanne chaired the South Metro Deputy Network and this led to her originally being co-opted onto the WASSEA committee. Joanne found working on the committee to be highly valuable in collaborating at a system level and was later voted onto the committee where she is now co-convening the 2019 WASSEA Conference.
Joanne has a deep desire to continue learning throughout her career and completed the Master of School Leadership in 2015 as part of the inaugural group funded through Department of Education.
Joanne takes up her first principal role as Foundation Principal at Hammond Park Secondary and is excited to put her strategic planning skills to good use for the opening of the school in 2020.
