Associate Principal
Mount Barker Community College
Leanne has been an Associate Principal since 2008 and in that time has taken responsibility for everything it is possible to in that role. One area of focus for many years has been around students and mental health – as the whole college was taken on a journey around building the college value of Belonging and being mentally healthy. Working in a K- 12 context, in the country, with a 237 ha Farm and a Trade Training Centre for Engineering, Leanne’s current focus is on students in Years 10-12. She also manages the college’s RTO status with a great team of VET staff.
As a country teacher for her whole teaching career, Leanne has always valued her Professional Association as a way to keep up with the latest and maintain professional relationships with colleagues. She joined the WASSEA Management Committee as a way to professionally extend herself while at the same time giving back to others.
Leanne is passionate about young people being able to get a quality education without having to leave home. She believes that local public schools are amazing places doing amazing things in connecting communities and providing opportunities for students, and that it is our job to ensure that every kid can get what they need at their local public school.
