Lesley Wintle

Our Committee / Lesley Wintle

Secretary

Principal
Warwick Senior High School

Lesley has experience in teaching and leadership roles in country and metropolitan schools over 42 years, mostly in smaller low ICSEA high schools. She is a passionate advocate for public education and success for all students.

As a principal for 20 years, she feels her wide ranging experience and extended networks allow her to genuinely represent an extensive group of WASSEA members and their schools, as required.

As a committee member, Lesley aims aim to continue mentoring aspirant leaders, and to continue seeking to influence much needed changes to secondary school executive’s working conditions, to maintain and improve their wellbeing and health, in an increasingly demanding and complex environment. Lesley will maintain her strong advocacy for small, low ICSEA schools to ensure recognition of their complexity, and to ensure adequate funding and support.

Lesley was a teacher of Science and her passions lie in advancing STE(A)M education, improving girls’ engagement into STEM subjects and careers, and commitment to ensuring education equality for students from disadvantaged backgrounds, to ensure the best outcomes and futures possible. Her other great passions are The Beatles and her cats.

Lesley sees her role at WASSEA as consulting with and representing the membership, taking their views and ideas forward to the WASSEA committee, and representing WASSEA and its members at regional and system level forums.
